About Me

My name is Lauren, and I am a therapist under supervision at MyTherapist New York. In therapy, I utilize an integration of rational emotive behavior therapy and imago couples counseling. People are complex and often times the presented problem in therapy is just a small part of a much larger picture. I try to consider all aspects of their world and life including culture, family, tradition, health, barriers, economy, and so forth. It is important to me that I help others tap into mind, body, and spirit in order to gain a more rational outlook on themselves and the world. I strive to provide a warm, non-judgmental and supportive environment for healing.

We are influenced by norms that have been established for us as people, and when we do not adhere to society’s expectations about what ways and actions are acceptable, many problems arise in our lives. In therapy, the therapist can help to construct (with the client) a different and more favorable storyline from the narrative they have created. No one person’s idea of reality is better or more correct than any other, rather, each persons cultural, familial, and societal experiences creates a different reality for each individual. Therapy empowers the client to re-author their lives in order to develop their own alternative and unique stories that might not necessarily conform to societies expectations, but that the client will find works for them and not against them.

I am a therapist practicing in New York State under the supervision of Dr. Michael DeMarco. As an associate of Dr.Demarco's practice I offer therapy on a sliding scale.

Compassion is one of the few things we can practice that will bring immediate and long-term happiness to our lives.
